KEVIN O’HEA, MD


Family Practice

  • 30+ years experience as a family medicine practitioner to Stone County Hospital and Clinic.
  • Received MD from the University of Western Ontario.
  • Holds a PhD from the University of Illinois, as well as both a master of science degree and a bachelor of science degree from University College in Dublin, Ireland.
  • Before moving to south Mississippi, Dr. O’Hea was in Family Practice in London, Ontario, Canada, for 19 years while at the same time serving on the Family Practice admitting staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Victoria Hospital, both in London, Ontario.
  • During that time he also served as an associate professor in the Department of Physiology and was the coordinator and sole teacher of a fourth year medical course in “Nutrition.”
  • Chairman of the Nutrition Education Committee at the University of Western Ontario and was instrumental in the hosting of an international three-day conference on “Nutrition in Health and Disease.”
  • Dr. O’Hea has been published in numerous journals over the years on various studies topics related to nutrition, metabolism, insulin and diabetes.
  • Prior to coming to Stone County Hospital and Clinic, Dr. O’Hea was a physician at George County Hospital and Community Medical Clinic in Lucedale, where had been in practice since 1996.
  • Dr. O’Hea is married and has four grown children and three grandchildren.
