Sleep Lab
Stone County Hospital now offers a Sleep Lab in a home-like setting where patients can feel comfortable and be monitored overnight for potential sleep disorders. The most common sleep study is the polysomnogram. This test records the electrical brain activity, eye movements, muscle activity, heart rate, breathing pattern, airflow through the nose, electrocardiogram (ECG), echocardiogram (EKG), apnea monitor, and a continuous pulse-oximetry. Once a patient has been tested, a report is sent to his or her physician. After the report has been reviewed and a diagnosis has been made, the physician will order the appropriate treatment for the patient. If you experience excessive daytime sleepiness, morning headaches, chronic fatigue, and/or restless sleep, you may be suffering from a sleep disorder. Ask your physician about a referral to the Sleep Lab for a sleep study. Sleep studies are performed by qualified physicians 24 hours a day, seven nights a week. Call (866) 520-5646.
